40651 (2026). Vanushi Walters to the Attorney-General: What elements, if any, of the recommendations of the 2012 Dean–Cochrane review into Crown Law have not been implemented as of 2026; listed by recommendation?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that Crown Law was the subject of three external reviews in 2011/12: - The Spencer Review of Public Prosecution Services - The State Services Commission, Treasury and DPMC Performance Improvement Framework (PIF) Review - The Dean–Cochrane Review of the Role and Functions of the Solicitor-General and the Crown Law Office. Crown Law responded with a change programme that incorporated its response to the majority of the recommendations from each of these reviews. A detailed outline of that response to these reviews can be found at page 7 of the March 2013 PIF-Follow Up Review of the Crown Law Office which is available at https://www.crownlaw.govt.nz/publications/reports along with all three earlier reports.
