40574 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology: What allocations for Wānanga or Kaupapa Māori allocations, if any, will be available through the Transition Research Fund?

Hon Penny Simmonds: I am advised that there are no specific funding allocations for wānanga or kaupapa Māori research. However, eligible organisations, including wānanga, may apply for funding. The Gazette criteria also provide for consideration of mātauranga Māori, which could include kaupapa Māori research, where relevant to the proposed research.
