40531 (2025). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: What is the current average time for emails sent via the Corrections email system to reach prisoners?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that prisoners do not have access to the Corrections email system. Each prison has a designated prisoner email address where family and friends can send emails to be passed on to a prisoner. Emails sent to prisoners are printed and handed to the prisoner by staff as soon as practical. However, Corrections does not record the time taken for emails to be given to prisoners, and therefore the member’s question is unable to be answered as it is currently framed.
