40521 (2026). Lan Pham to the Minister for Hunting and Fishing: What is the proposed work program for the use of any funding the Game Animal Council has received, specifically with regard to the management of Herds of Special Interest?

Hon James Meager: The funding will be used to manage the size of the sika herd to allow forest canopy regeneration, improve the quality of the herd, enhance hunter engagement, work with Treaty Partners, and programme management. The Game Animal Council's management of the Herd of Special Interest does not include ecological monitoring, which remains the responsibility of DOC.
