40514 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Justice: How much, if any, has the Minister's departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, spent on rebranding since 27 November 2023?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: I am advised that since 27 November 2023, the Ministry of Justice spent a total of $39,264.93 (excluding GST) on rebranding.
This included costs relating to:
•$32,264.93 (excluding GST) spent to both refresh the branding of the New Zealand Crime and Victims Survey (NZCVS) and produce two infographics summarising data from the first five years of the survey. The refreshed branding has been used in all NZCVS publications since mid-2024.
•On 24 February 2025, the Māori Crown Relations portfolio was transferred from Te Arawhiti to Te Puni Kōkiri, and Cabinet agreed to a new name for the independent departmental agency that better reflects its refined role: Te Tari Whakatau. This change to Te Tari Whakatau was supported by rebranding costs of $7,000 that covered website, domain name changes and printing.
For the Crown Entities that I am responsible Minister for, the Office of the Privacy Commission spent $25,000 on its brand design features. For all other entities, I am advised that there has been no spend on rebranding.
