40511 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Internal Affairs: How much, if any, did the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, spend on the carbon neutral government programme in the 2024/25 financial year?
Hon Brooke van Velden: Department of Internal Affairs I am advised by the Department of Internal Affairs that $247,000 has been spent on the Carbon Neutral Government Programme in the 2024/25 financial year. Fire and Emergency New Zealand I am advised that Fire and Emergency spent $12,011.75, plus GST on the carbon neutral government programme in 2024/25 for audit and certification. New Zealand Lotteries Commission I am advised that the carbon neutral government programme is covered within its wider Environment, Social and Governance programme costs and is embedded into operational roles to ensure a focus on reduction. Specific costs of $73,780 were incurred in the 2025 financial year including the Toitu net carbon zero certification and audit. Office of Film and Literature Classification I am advised that the Office of Film and Literature Classification is not covered by the carbon neutral government programme. However, it has a range of measures to reduce its environmental impact. It does not own or lease any vehicles; it has minimal expenditure on air travel and uses public transport for short around-town trips.
