Rt Hon Winston Peters: As announced by KiwiRail on 15 August 2025, $671 million was spent in total on Project iReX of which $449 million was for landside infrastructure and management while $222 million was paid to Hyundai. Of the $222 million, $144 represented the final settlement payment. KiwiRail is unable to detail the Hyundai payments as Hyundai is still negotiating with its suppliers to resolve their claims. To the extent that any further details can be provided, you will need to place an OIA request with KiwiRail as the responsible party for Project iReX and the holder of that information.
