40455 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Education: How much, if any, has the Minister's departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, spent on rebranding since 27 November 2023?
Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that no rebranding is planned for the 2025/26 financial year. Any costs for 2024/25 will be included in the Ministry’s 2024/25 Annual Review later in 2025. No rebranding was undertaken by the Ministry in the 2023/2024 financial year. I am advised that the Education Review Office has not spent any funding on rebranding within the requested time period. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority provides this information each year in response to Select Committee questions. I am advised there has been no additional spend since the question was last answered in April 2025. This information can be found here: https://www.parliament.nz/en/pb/sc/submissions-and-advice/document/54SCEDUW_EVI_22b2c7b8-a76c-4d9f-c253-08dd667bfcf5_EDUW4126/new-zealand-qualifications-authority-responses-to-pre-hearing#RelatedAnchor I am advised that, since 27 November 2023, ENZ has spent $278,931.22 on rebranding. This took place in the 2024/25 financial year. Education New Zealand’s role is to take New Zealand’s education experience to the world for enduring social, cultural and economic benefits. The promotion and marketing of New Zealand’s international education offering, including branding, are a key part of ENZ’s role and therefore investment.
