40433 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for Rail: Further to the replies to written questions 37920 (2026) and 37922 (2026), how is he able to state that the contract with Esby & Co is under $100,000 while also stating that he does not hold information on its value?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: Simple, where possible we endeavour to provide answers to junior Members of Parliament so, in this specific instance, we asked Ferry Holdings for that specific information. We were concerned that if we did not clarify this specific point for you, then the wrong conclusion could be reached and reported in The Post. Time will tell.
