Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: In response to Reply 38788 (2025), what consultation, if any, has been undertaken with Vocational Education and Training and Tertiary Education providers and industry regarding the replacement of NCEA outside of the consultation process on the proposed changes which opened on 15 September 2025?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that the Ministry of Education undertook some limited engagement with industry representatives outside of the public consultation process on the proposed changes, which opened on 4 August 2025. No specific engagement was undertaken with Vocational Education and Training providers outside of the public consultation.
