40212 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Tourism and Hospitality: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies, if any, how many employees, if any, have lost or are set to lose their roles, and provide a service to customers, between 27 November 2023 and 10 July 2024?
Hon Matt Doocey: Regarding Tourism New Zealand, I am advised that Tourism New Zealand has a budget reduction of $5.6m effective from 1 July 2024 and is currently working to find savings to accommodate this. I am further advised that Tourism New Zealand has found savings through vacancies equivalent to 6 FTE is currently working through a change process which will see a reduction in some staff across the organisation. As of 10 July 2024, Tourism New Zealand is still working with impacted employees to see if it can redeploy them into vacant positions, once this process is complete it will be clear how many people employees will be leaving and the location of those employees. For information regarding the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) I refer the member to the Minister responsible for MBIE’s response to this Written Parliamentary Question.
