40140 (2024). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What more “flexibility” of the use of the Clean Car Importer Standard’s emission credits and charges does the Minister intend to legislate for?

Hon Simeon Brown: I will be legislating changes to the Clean Car Importer Standard’s flexibility measures that: • extend the lifespan of emission credits (existing and future) from three to four years • extend the use of borrowing of future target overachievement (ie payment obligation deferral) beyond 2025 • remove the legislative restriction on credit transfers between the new and used-import sectors, with a 2026 start date for transfers.
