40095 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What is the description of the two models of gender affirming care launched during Quarter 3, referenced on page 8 of Te Whatu Ora’s Quarterly Performance report January – March 2024?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that the two models of gender-affirming care are being delivered by Auckland Primary Health Organisation (PHO), which is leading a collective of six PHOs in Auckland, and by Pegasus Charitable Ltd in Christchurch, which is providing services to people in Waitaha region. Each provider is delivering different services. Multi-disciplinary teams are providing services in a variety of ways including extended primary care consultations, referral pathways to specialist general practitioners, and upskilling/accrediting clinicians to delivery hormone therapy.
