40088 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health

Written Question
Published date: 23 Jul 2024
40088 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Why is the delivery of planned care interventions in Q3 23/24 barely above that of the preceding year (80,365 in 22/23 compared to 78,009 in 23/24)?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I note that there is an error in the Member's question. The Q3 Quarterly Performance Report states Health New Zealand delivered 80,365 planned care interventions in 2023/24, compared to 78,009 in 2022/23. I am advised that each year, Q3 performance is affected by seasonal variations which impact planned care delivery over the quarter. This is an annual occurrence and is seen in previous reporting. As delivery returns to normal through Q3, volumes increase.
