Hon Simeon Brown: Officials considered the alignment of the Government Policy Statement on land transport 2024 (GPS 2024) with the emissions reduction actions in the first Emissions Reduction Plan (ERP1) as part of drafting GPS 2024. Public consultation on the second Emissions Reduction Plan (ERP2) is planned to commence shortly. The Government's key tool to reducing emissions is the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and we are responding the ETS with key transport policies. The specific mix of policies and initiatives aimed at achieving the second emissions budget, and net zero target by 2050, will be confirmed in ERP2 by the end of 2024.
