40030 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Minister of Immigration: Does New Zealand offer a similar pathway to residency for experienced aged care workers as Australia, as noted in the Sapere report A Review of Aged Care Funding and Service Models (January 2024); if so, what is this pathway?
Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that there is a pathway to residence in New Zealand for experienced aged care workers.
Immigration New Zealand has a residence category, the Care Workforce: Work to Residence Visa, for migrants who have worked in specified occupations within New Zealand’s Care Workforce sector for two or more years. Such occupations include Aged or Disabled Carers.
Migrants have been able to apply for residence under this category since 29 September 2023.
