40020 (2024). Hon Phil Twyford to the Associate Minister of Immigration: What reports, briefings, memos, aides-memoire, notes or written advice if any, on the Refugee Family Support Category have been used by Immigration NZ for the purpose of informing prospective quota refugees prior to arriving in Aotearoa and/or while at the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre, since 1 July 2021, by title and date?
Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that Immigration New Zealand (INZ) provides a brief overview of the family reunification options under the Refugee Family Support Category (RFSC) to all applicants who are considered for inclusion under the Refugee Quota Programme. As part of INZ’s initial interview process. A more detailed overview is provided to applicants who appear that they may be eligible to sponsor family under Tier 1 of the RFSC.
Approved quota refugees who are identified as likely to be eligible to sponsor family members under the RFSC are referred by Immigration New Zealand to publicly available information on how to apply, and are provided with contact details for INZ if they have any questions before they depart from the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre.
