Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the last quarter (January to March 2024) to ‘Build and implement the National Screening Solution for bowel screening and other cancer screening programmes’ under Outcome 4: New Zealanders have better cancer survival, supportive care and end-of-life care, as part of the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019 – 2029?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that the National Bowel Screening Programme’s National Screening Solution Information Technology Register was implemented in June 2022. The Cervical Screening Solution was implemented in September 2023. I am further advised that the new BreastScreen Aotearoa National Breast Screening System continued to be tested in January to March 2024 quarter to ensure clinical safety.
