39996 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: How many social houses were built from money appropriated through Budget 2023, including baseline funding for that year, if any, broken down by houses built by Kāinga Ora, and houses built by each Community Housing Provider, as at 19 August 2025?
Hon Chris Bishop: A total of 17,050 net additional social housing places were funded through Budget 2018 (6,400 places), Budget 2020 (7,650 places) and Budget 2023 (3,000 places). There was no provision for additional social housing places in Budgets 2019, 2021 or 2022. As at 30 June 2025, 16,593 of these places have been delivered. I have provided a table supplied by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development that shows the delivery of these additional places by Community Housing Providers and Kāinga Ora for each financial year from 2018/19 to 2024/25, noting that the remaining 457 places are intended to be delivered before the end of the current 2025/26 year.
