39993 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress has been made in the last quarter (January to March 2024) to ‘Support palliative care training for the wider health care workforce’ under Outcome 4: New Zealanders have better cancer survival, supportive care and end-of-life care, as part of the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019 – 2029?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that work underway on the National Palliative Care Work Programme during the January to March 2024 quarter focused on developing consistent and equitable models of palliative care provision across New Zealand to support better palliative care for all New Zealanders who need it.
I am further advised that once the model of care work is completed, Health NZ will review the workforce and training required to meet the new models of care. This work is scheduled to begin in late 2024.
