39790 (2024). Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Minister of Transport: How much, if anything, was spent on maintenance, renewal, and operational-related activities on the Waikato Expressway in 2023, as a per-kilometre average, and what was the total length of road that underwent maintenance or renewal in that year?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that the NZTA does not record information in a way that enables it to report the amount spent on maintenance, renewal and operational-related activities for specific Roads of National Significance. The total spend for motorways and expressways is reflected in my response to Written Question reply 39788. I am advised by NZTA that the total length of pavement and surfacing renewals completed on the Waikato Expressway was 27.86 lane/km in 2020-21, 36.95 lane/km in 2021-22 and 20.76 lane/km in 2022-23.
