39788 (2024). Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Minister of Transport: How much was spent on maintenance, renewal, and operational-related activities on all State Highways between 2021 and 2023 (inclusive), excluding motorways and expressways, as a per kilometre average, and what was the total length of road that underwent maintenance or renewal in that period?
Hon Simeon Brown: The average spend per lane kilometre on maintenance and renewal activities for all state highways, motorways and expressways between 2021 and 2023 is provided in NZTA’s Annual Reports:
https://www.nzta.govt.nz/about-us/about-nz-transport-agency-waka-kotahi/annual-reports/
The end of year financial information for 2023/24 is not yet available.
I am advised by NZTA that the length of pavement and surfacing renewals completed on state highways only are as follows: 1748.78 lane/km in 2020-21, 2056.95 lane/km in 2021-22 and 1972.62 lane/km in 2022-23.
