39687 (2024). Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Minister of Transport: What is the expected death and serious injury reduction, if any, for fixing potholes?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised by NZTA that the causal factors to a road crash are difficult to identify, but there are numerous contributing factors. At this time, NZTA advises there is no analysis to determine a reduction in deaths and serious injuries through increased fixing of potholes. However, as a contributing factor, the Government recognises the importance of increasing investment in maintenance to improve the quality of our roads and improve safety.
