39679 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for Rail: What volume of rail freight, measured in net tonne kilometres or wagon equivalents, has been road-bridged across Cook Strait in each quarter since the Aratere was retired in August 2025?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: This is not information held by a shareholding Minister. KiwiRail has a right to go about its commercial activities, including whether to release freight volumes on a specific service, without prejudice or disadvantage.
