39670 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education

Written Question

39670 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: How, if at all, will the government ensure that teachers have the necessary support to implement the introduction of "consistent assessment tools" without adding to their workload?
Hon Erica Stanford: Many schools and teachers are already familiar with, and regularly using, the two twice-yearly progression monitoring tools for the New Zealand Curriculum that are available for schools to choose from (e-asTTle and Progressive Achievement Tests). I am advised by the Ministry of Education that there are existing supports for these tools, and that further work is underway to develop resources, guidance, and self-paced professional development that will support teachers to use consistent assessment tools. Professional learning and support materials will be available online in 2025. This is also my response to written parliamentary question 36971 (2024).
