39669 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: How, if at all, will parents be informed about their child’s progress through the introduction of "consistent assessment tools"?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that schools and kura are required to report to parents on progress twice a year under the Education (School Boards) Regulations 2020. Under the existing regulations, parents and caregivers will get information on the results from the required assessment tools. As part of improving the consistency and quality of regular reporting (against the national curriculum) to parents and guardians, the Ministry will provide schools and kura with clear expectations for what student achievement and progress information is to be included in reports. This will ensure parents know how their child is progressing, where they might need help, and where they can be extended.
