39668 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What resources, if any, will be made available to parents to help them support their child’s learning at home alongside the introduction of "consistent assessment tools"?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that many schools and teachers are already familiar with, and regularly using, the two twice-yearly progression monitoring tools for the New Zealand Curriculum that are available for schools to choose from (e-asTTle and Progressive Achievement Tests). There are a number of existing resources and supports for these assessment tools which parents and whānau can access to understand how the assessments are being administered and how to interpret results. See, for example, the Ministry of Education’s website for e-asTTle at https://e-asttle.tki.org.nz/. Additional resources are being developed, including targeted resources for families and whānau, as part of a suite of supports for the implementation of consistent progression monitoring and regular reporting.
