39650 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Education: How, if at all, does the Minister intend to ensure that the Authorisation Board follows the mandatory requirement to "take into account" the "level of support from community, staff, students, and whānau for the proposed sponsor and new or converted charter school"?
Hon David Seymour: Members will be appointed who have the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to carry out the Board’s functions. This includes complying with relevant legislation, including the requirement to take into account prescribed matters when making decisions.
If any person is dissatisfied with a decision made by the Authorisation Board, they will be able to complain to the Minister responsible for charter schools or the Ombudsman, or seek a judicial review of the decision in the High Court.
