39637 (2025). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Associate Minister of Education: How many Early Childhood Education Centres are currently open in all regions of New Zealand, excluding the cities of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, broken down by amount of centres per region?

Hon David Seymour: I refer the Member to the attached table showing the number of early childhood education (ECE) centres by region. Data quality is dependent on timely, accurate information being entered into the Ministry of Education’s database. The numbers include the following services: • Casual-Education and Care • Education and Care Service • Free Kindergarten • Homebased Network • Hospital based • Playcentre • Te Kōhanga Reo. This is also my response to written parliamentary questions 39639, 39640 and 39642 (2025).
