39636 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What is the median average pay rates for Te Whatu Ora HNZ nurses employed as Registered Nurse Step 1 – Registered Nurse Step 7 from 1 January 2024 to 1 January 2025?

Hon Simeon Brown: The Government values our nurses and the vital care they give patients, and that is why the average salary for a registered nurse is now over $125,000 a year, including overtime and allowances. I am advised that Health New Zealand can only provide mean pay rates for nurses. The mean salary for Health New Zealand nurses employed as Registered Nurse Step 1 to Registered Nurse Step 7 for the period from May 2024 to 1 January 2025, for which data is available, was $127,488.
