39629 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What is the total number hours of overtime worked from 1 January 2025 – 31 July 2025 for Te Whatu Ora Health NZ workforce, broken down by total number hours overtime worked for Registered Nurses Step 1 – 7 / Designated Senior Nurses?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that registered nurses worked 437,511 hours of overtime between January and July 2025, while senior nurses worked 62,846 hours over the same period. I note that this compares to 1,159,403 hours of overtime for registered nurses and 180,519 hours for senior nurses in 2023, and 800,164 hours for registered nurses and 126,458 hours for senior nurses in 2024.
