39620 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Local Government: What is the current schedule, funding status, and delivery plan for Watercare’s long-term wastewater infrastructure projects for Warkworth and Snells Beach, and how will the Government ensure timely completion, if at all?

Hon Simon Watts: As Minister of Local Government, I am not responsible for Watercare’s operational matters. Under Local Water Done Well, Watercare is financially independent from Auckland Council, allowing Watercare to further fund their infrastructure investment programme. Watercare has committed $450 million as part of a decade long programme to upgrade Warkworth’s wastewater infrastructure to meet growth in the area with the overall programme completion anticipated by late 2027. The Water Services Authority – Taumata Arowai and the Commerce Commission, as regulators for water services, will oversee water quality monitoring and economic regulatory oversight.
