39603 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: When, if ever, are follow-ups, home visits, or any form of contact considered if a home-schooling family fails to return a Statutory Declaration for consecutive periods?
Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that it does not follow up with a home educating family if the statutory declaration is not returned. There is no legal requirement for a home educating family to return the statutory declaration to the Ministry. The statutory declaration is completed by home educating families who wish to receive the supervision allowance. If a statutory declaration is ‘returned to sender’ during any period, the Ministry will contact the home educating family to check it has the correct contact details on file and, if necessary, send out a new declaration.
