39594 (2024). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Associate Minister of Justice: Further to WPQ 37769 (2024); What research, assessment or data, if any, has she seen which informs her statement, “I hope that transferring the Firearms Safety Authority away from Police would reverse these trends”?

Hon Nicole McKee: I regularly hear from licenced firearms owners who are frustrated and concerned with the Firearms Safety Authority's lack of independence from New Zealand Police as seen in the recently published Firearms Trust and Confidence Survey. I will be taking advice on the transfer of the Firearms Safety Authority and expected outcomes in the coming months.
