39549 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: With regard to the targets set out in the Government Policy Statement on Health 2024-2027, what actions, if any, has the Minister taken towards training 500 mental health and addiction professionals each year?

Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that Health New Zealand is expanding its programmes and the implementation of new initiatives to meet the new targets within the Government Policy Statement on Health 2024-27. I am further advised that over the coming months Health New Zealand will be identifying activities that will build on the existing work programme to increase the mental health workforce over the period of the GPS.
