39547 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What investment, if any has there been in making Progressive Assessment Tests (PATs) secure and fit for purpose?

Hon Erica Stanford: The Progressive Achievement Tests (PATs) are owned by the New Zealand Council for Educational Research (NZCER), an independent research and development organisation. I have been advised by the Ministry of Education that officials are working closely with the NZCER on an implementation plan for twice-yearly progression monitoring in Years 3 to 8 using PATs. The implementation plan includes consideration of any work needed to strengthen PATs so they are secure and fit for purpose.
