39532 (2024). Steve Abel to the Associate Minister of Agriculture: How many, if any, cosmetic products manufactured in New Zealand and sold in New Zealand are tested on animals?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: Section 84A of the Animal Welfare Act 1999 prohibits the use of animals in the development, making, or testing of cosmetic products in New Zealand. I am advised that data relating to the retail sale of cosmetic products in New Zealand is not held by the Ministry for Primary Industries.
