39447 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage: What was the ministerial purpose of the visit to the Venice Biennale on 30 April 2024?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: The visit to the Venice Biennale was part of a Cabinet approved trip to Geneva and Europe in my capacity as Minister of Justice, to attend New Zealand's fourth Universal Periodic Review at the United Nations. I visited the Venice Biennale in my capacity as Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage, to view the New Zealand works that were selected for this prestigious event, including the work of Mataaho Collective who won the Golden Lion for best participant in the main exhibition; a first for New Zealand.
