Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: Further to his reply to Question 37026 (2025), how many houses, if any, did Kāinga Ora have contracted on 1 July 2023 with developers of new homes that were to be acquired for state housing once completed and how does that number breakdown by named developer?

Hon Chris Bishop: I refer the Member to the attached table. Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advise me that the number of contracted units per developer is commercially sensitive, and it is not considered to be in the public interest to release. Kāinga Ora will strategically move towards using fewer construction partners as it works towards greater procurement efficiencies, and it will acquire more of its pipeline through development acquisitions as opposed to traditional redevelopment.
