39398 (2024). Rt Hon Chris Hipkins to the Minister of Housing: What proportion of new houses does he expect Kainga Ora to be building as opposed to other providers, by percentage?

Hon Chris Bishop: As at 31 May 2024, the remaining social housing commitments mean that there will be an additional 6,246 social housing places by June 2027. At this stage, Kāinga Ora is expected to deliver 4,125 net new places over the same time horizon which equates to 66% of the total net new places. In addition, Kāinga Ora is also expecting to renew approximately 1,000-1,200 renewals by June 2025 which are offset by demolishing properties that are no longer fit for purpose.
