39348 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: How many social / state houses for seniors have been cancelled since 27 November 2023, if any, broken down by territorial authority?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that its housing build programme does not deliver homes specifically for older people. When new homes become available these are matched with applicants on the Ministry of Social Development’s housing register. Kāinga Ora occasionally partners with Community Housing Providers (CHPs) to develop dedicated housing projects tailored to the needs of older people. These homes are then managed by CHPs.
