39344 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: What is the median wait time for all people on the housing register for each priority ratings between July 2023 and July 2025, broken down by Territorial Local Authority and quarter?

Hon Tama Potaka: I refer the member to the attached table, which provides the median time to house (days) for clients on the Social Housing Register (the Register) during the quarters from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2025 by Territorial Local Authority, register type, priority and position. The Ministry of Social Development advises me that the Register changes, reflecting changes in people’s circumstances. For example, a client may have had a lower rating when originally assessed for social housing and subsequently received a higher rating due to a change in circumstances, making it more likely that they will be housed. The time to house reflects total time spent on the register before accepting an offer of social housing rather than time spent on the register at that higher priority rating.
