39338 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Education: How many, if any, tailored surplus reduction plans have been developed for schools in the Ka Ora, Ka Ako programme?

Hon David Seymour: The School Lunch Collective (SLC) has contacted 198 schools and to date 48 tailored surplus reduction plans have been developed for schools receiving lunches from the SLC. The agreed actions include reducing meal numbers, changing the time of lunch, having tastings to help inform menu planning, having a communal eating area, improving communications with the school community, reviewing tuckshop hours, and schools sharing surplus information with the SLC.
