Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 on the recommended focus area ‘Increase allocation of funding for education and training of the cancer workforce, including funding for replacement staffing cover and additional roles in cancer care. This includes consideration of increased senior medical officer roles’ under ‘System-wide solution 4: Workforce’ in the Cancer Control Agency ’Cancer Services Planning’ document?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that in January 2024, an additional five radiation oncology training registrar positions were established.
