39307 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 toward ‘Monitoring Goal 1: Reduced number of new locally acquired HIV infections’ through the monitoring indicator ‘Count of new diagnoses of HIV acquired in Aotearoa New Zealand’ as part of Te Whatu Ora’s HIV Monitoring Plan?
Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that data showing the number of new diagnoses of HIV in New Zealand is not yet available for the period January to March 2024. I am further advised that the Ministry of Health expects to receive this data from the AIDS Epidemiology Group by the end of July 2024. The most recent data available for 2023 shows that rates of new HIV diagnoses are low in New Zealand and have continued an overall downward trend since 2016.
