39283 (2026). Tākuta Ferris to the Minister of Conservation: What consideration, if any, was given to a population-specific H5 risk analysis similar to Australia’s, which assesses both national conservation status and the local-level impacts?

Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised that the Department of Conservation is not considering assessing regional populations of birds and is focusing on nationally threatened species at highest risk from H5 bird flu.
