39275 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Vocational Education: Does the Minister publicly sharing details on Q+A of the cash reserve positions of the Southern Institute of Technology and Otago Polytechnic mean that she can share how much is in cash reserves for every polytechnic and institute of technology (ITP) throughout the country, and if so how much is in cash reserves for each ITP in New Zealand?
Hon Penny Simmonds: The financial position of each polytechnic prior to integration into Te Pūkenga is publicly available in their 2019 annual reports. Following the formation of Te Pūkenga, financial information has been reported at the group level rather than for each individual business division.
However, Te Pūkenga has published the level of cash reserves that were ringfenced for each ITP when it became part of Te Pūkenga. These can be found here: https://www.xn--tepkenga-szb.ac.nz/news/how-the-ring-fencing-policy-works-and-what-it-means
