39269 (2025). Vanushi Walters to the Minister of Justice: What, if anything, is the definition of “data” that the Electoral Commission will be able to use under proposed changes in the Electoral Amendment Bill to update a person’s address?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: I am advised that “data” is not defined in the Electoral Amendment Bill. Clause 25 of the Bill provides that the Electoral Commission will be able to update a person’s address if it is satisfied that an elector’s current place of residence has changed on the basis of information disclosed to it pursuant to section 263B of the Electoral Act 1993.
