39268 (2025). Vanushi Walters to the Minister of Justice: Is there a comprehensive list, if any, of the “data” from Government Agencies that the Electoral Commission will be able to use under proposed changes in the Electoral Amendment Bill to update a person’s address?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: Under proposed changes in the Electoral Amendment Bill, the Electoral Commission will be able to use the information set out in section 263B of the Electoral Act 1993 to update a person’s address on the electoral roll. This information is:
•beneficiary and student information held by the Ministry of Social Development
•driver licence and motor vehicle registration information held by the New Zealand Transport Agency
•citizenship and passport information held by the Department of Internal Affairs.
