Camilla Belich to the Minister for Sport and Recreation: What pilot programmes, if any, have been initiated by any departments or agencies for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, and what were their commencement dates, durations, funding sources and amounts, objectives, and current status?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I have interpreted this as referring to pilot programmes or initiatives funded externally, rather than within Sport New Zealand. Sport New Zealand has not initiated any pilot programmes since 27 November 2023. The Sport Integrity Commission (the Commission) has initiated one pilot since being established on 1 July 2024. The Integrity Code Pilot (the pilot) commenced in March 2025 and is scheduled to end in June 2026. The pilot provides support to participating organisations through a partnership model to expedite their adoption of the Integrity Code and gather insights and lessons to improve the end-to-end adoption and implementation process. The pilot has a budget allocation of $300,000, which is for the full pilot, and is funded from within the Commission’s baseline. The objectives of the pilot are to support participating organisations to adopt the Code of Integrity for Sport and Recreation (the Integrity Code), help the Commission refine and improve the adoption experience for sport and recreation organisations, and encourage more widespread adoption of the Integrity Code across the sector. The pilot is currently on track with memoranda of understanding signed with five national-level organisations to participate in the pilot. One participating organisation has provided formal notification of intention to adopt the Integrity Code.
